Daylight savings
is perhaps the most notable
discredential to our collectively agreed
reality. It’s like the Purge of Alarm Clocks,
The Judge who blinks against morality,
Who weighs reputation over decency—
it reminds us that our time here
is a series of complicit lies.
Even denying us the mercy of a forgotten adjustment,
our devices are deep-programmed to the change,
unlike our imperfect humanhood
which we must force to the conformity
of saving daylight
above all else,
above reason.
